Bishop Bob to retire

His last service will take place next autumn

THE Bishop of Crediton, the Right Reverend Bob Evens, has announced he will retire next year.

Bishop Bob, pictured above, will be 65 in May, 2012, and has said he will retire at the end of October. His last service will be to ordain some of Devon’s new priests next autumn.

Bishop Bob has served as a bishop, overseeing a large area of Devon, since 2004. Before that he was Archdeacon of Bath. He was born in Plymouth, later moving to Exeter and Ilfracombe.

The Bishop of Exeter, the Right Reverend Michael Langrish, said Bishop Bob had been loved and appreciated by all those he served. He said a celebration service for his retirement was planned for October 6 next year in Exeter Cathedral.
