IT was only meant to be a crabbing contest, but Mike and Lydia Bowering-Sheehan are pictured here with the specimen bass caught by Lydia with a piece of string and bacon as bait.The contest was held on Instow Quay as part of West Yelland, Instow and Westleigh Community on Show Day.Contestants were lashed by high winds and heavy rain, which forced the cancellation of all the outdoor events planned for the day.But Lydia was well satisfied with the first prize her 1.3kg bass won for her.MP Nick Harvey opened the event in the Village Hall where the craft show went ahead.
