The keen tennis player and lover of flowers celebrated turning 100 with friends and family in Bideford.

A Bidefordian, who was an avid tennis player, has celebrated turning 100.

Edna Westway was visited by her friends and family - some of whom flew all the way from Canada - at Kenwith Castle care home.

Edna grew up on a farm with her seven siblings.

She married at the age of 22 and has two children, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Edna played tennis throughout her life and was a member of the Bideford Women's Institute and Mothers' Union.

She loves flowers and was a founding member of The Atlantic Flower Club.

Rae Vanstone, manager at Kenwith Castle, said: "We were delighted to be able to celebrate Edna's special day with her at the home.

"It was lovely to meet so many of her friends and family and to hear more about her life in Bideford."
