Town centre partnership is planning to spruce up areas of Bideford with new flowerbeds.

The Bideford Town Centre Partnership, made up of major organisations around the town including the traders and councils, is trying to spruce up the town’s flowerbeds.

Its first project has been the area outside of the Quay Cafe, and now it is asking businesses to donate towards the upkeep of the other beds.

Tonia Quance, of the partnership, said: “Rather than ask people to sponsor a flowerbed, which is not always financially possible, we are asking people to donate upwards of £1.

“If you are generous enough to donate £100 or more, you are welcome to place a sponsorship board on the flower beds.

“We are hoping for this to be a large community effort and would love businesses to be a part of it.”

Outside of the cafe, three wooden planters have been funded by the town centre partnership, and filled thanks to businesses in the area and beyond.

Mark Souch, of MS Autos in Clovelly Road, said: “Even though our business is out of town in Clovelly Industrial Estate, we are very pleased to contribute.

“How our town looks reflects on us all.”

The partnership’s next plan is to extend the wooden planters around all of the trees along Bideford Quay.

Donations can be dropped to Bideford Cobblers & Keys in High Street, or contact Tonia Quance on Facebook.
