The Gazette revealed in February how the council was planning on moving the skate park to the football ground. If approved, the concrete park will be moved from Bank End and built on the redundant tennis courts. The skate park plans went out to tender in March and will be built in two phases. It will include kerbs, rails and steps as well as large-scale bowls and ramps. The proposals were originally hoped to the go before TDCs plans committee in April. The move comes after TDC had to close the old skate park in February last year for health and safety reasons. Councillor Phil Pennington, TDC lead member for community, culture and leisure, said: The sports ground is the ideal location for the towns new destination skate park. The area lends itself perfectly for a new facility like this and with thorough public consultation we will ensure that the park offers exactly what the users would like to see.
