More than 300 children from 10 schools performed in the annual Bideford Area Schools Music Festival.
Choirs from Appledore, Bideford College, East-the-Water, Hartland, Instow, St Helen’s, St Margaret’s, St Mary’s, West Croft and Woolsery joined together for a musical celebration.
The children learned two pieces which they performed at Devon Hall as a huge combined choir, accompanied by Bideford College’s own Bideband.
The pieces, O Fortuna by Carl Orff and All Together Now by The Farm, were arranged and directed by the Babcock LDP Music Lead, Debbie Kent.
Each choir then performed a pre-rehearsed piece on their own with the variety being clear from 1960s pop through musical theatre to Ed Sheeran and some contemporary choral works.
Adrian Scarrett, headteacher at St Mary’s and co-ordinator of the event said he was very proud of all involved.
He said: “It was fantastic to have every eligible school in attendance this year and the quality of the performances has definitely improved once again.
“The children put their all into the singing and the staff have, year-on-year, increased the challenged in their repertoire choices.
“The children have risen to those challenges and created a performance which was professional and engaging.
“I am very proud of the wealth of talent that we have in our area and am already looking forward to future collaborative events.”
