The Bideford Secondary Modern girls’ reunited at the at the Durrant House Hotel after 65 years.
A group of schoolfriends have reunited – 65 years after leaving secondary school.
The former Bideford Secondary Modern School pupils met at the Durrant House Hotel in Northam on Thursday for a reunion lunch.
They all left school in 1951 at the age of 15 – and this year will all be celebrating their 80th birthdays.
Organiser Barbara Harris said the group met once a year, and chose a different venue around Bideford each time.
“It started off with about six of us and we used to go to people’s houses,” she said.
“But then it grew a bit more each year and now there are about 20 of us that meet for our lunch every time.
“We are all turning 80 this year, and I don’t know if this will be the last reunion like this.
“There are already a couple of people who could not make it this time due to ill health.”
The group went to school in the Geneva building, which has planning permission to be converted into 14 flats.
