A 21-year-old from Bideford is celebrating after losing four stone and reaching the finals of a national slimming competition.Jenny March made the final 30 in Slimming Worlds Young Slimmer of the Year 2016 competition, out of all of the 16 to 21-year-olds who attend 14,000 groups across the UK. Jenny joined the Bideford Slimming World group in June 2015. She has since gone from a starting weight of 13 stone five pounds, to nine stone five pounds. She said: When I was bigger I always felt as though I didnt fit in and that was really hard. It seemed like all of my friends were slim, happy and loving life, while I just spent all my time worrying about my weight. At the awards Jenny met Olympic silver medallist and British 400m record holder Iwan Thomas. Since losing weight she has become more active and taken up running. Ive even entered the Exeter Half Marathon this October and have another 10-mile race planned for November, she said. Kate Elston, who runs the Bideford Slimming World group, said: Im so proud of Jenny. What shes achieved is so much more than just losing weight. The changes Jenny has made have now given her the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices and develop new active habits that will stand her in good stead for the rest of her life.
