54 pupils commended for 100 per cent attendance - with one even winning a mountain bike.

Bideford College has commended 54 of its students who haven’t missed a single day of school this year.

The students celebrated 100 per cent attendance for all three terms.

Averill Jewell, assistant principal at the college, said: “Attendance is one of the biggest factors in a student’s education – after all, if you’re not in school you can’t learn.

“These students have really done well to not miss a single day of education this year and we are extremely proud of them.”

Year seven student Peter Robb was the lucky student whose name was picked out of a hat to win a mountain bike.

M&E Alarms donated the bike as part of its work with the college to promote attendance.

More prizes will be handed out in September including Kindle Fires to the students with the most improved attendance, as well as others with 100 per cent attendance.
