Fast food chain is trying to keep Torridge tidy as part of the Love Where You Live campaign

Staff from McDonald’s in Bideford have teamed up with the town council to keep Torridge tidy.

The volunteers’ goal was to spruce up the town centre and the area surrounding the fast food restaurant.

In total they collected six bags of litter.

This event was just one of a number of McDonald’s clean-ups taking place across the UK as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s anti-littering campaign, Love Where You Live.

Franchisee David Hunt, who owns and operates the restaurant in Clovelly Road, said: “I was really proud to see everyone come together and help tidy up the town centre, and it was great to work in conjunction with Bideford Town Council.

“As a business, we understand the important role that we play in making the area a better place.”

Aside from larger litter events, McDonald’s restaurants patrol the streets at least three times a day to collect all litter that has been discarded, regardless of its origin.
