The unemployed scaffolder pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage after a drunken row with an ex-girlfriend.
A BIDEFORD man who kicked an estate agent’s window and head-butted a police car has pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage.
Jonjo Donovan, 23, of Stucley Road, was on a night out in Bideford on December 20 when he had an argument with an old girlfriend.
As he became angrier he kicked the window of Regency Estate Agent’s, causing the glass pane to smash and an alarm to sound.
Police were alerted to the incident by Donovan’s ex-girlfriend, and they chased him through the town, eventually finding him hiding behind a bush on the Quay.
He was taken back to Allhalland Street to be cautioned, but as officers searched him against the police car he head-butted the rear window twice, smashing it.
Three officers took Donovan to the ground and had to put him in restraints as he began to head-butt the floor before they could stop him.
In custody, he told police he had not drunk anything until that night since his release from prison three months before and had consumed five to six pints plus some shorts.
Tom Hook, defending, said: “This is simply the case of a young man extremely frustrated at himself.”
Magistrates ordered Donovan, who is currently unemployed, to pay £278 in compensation to the estate agents and the police.
He was also made subject to a six month community order with supervision.
