TWO young Bideford majorettes have been chosen to strut their stuff for England at the European championships in Croatia this autumn.

Fellow Torridgeside Majorettes Hayley Dunn, 17, and Alison Mower, 13, have won their way through a series of competitions, culminating with wins at the National Association of Majorettes England regional finals in Taunton, to qualify for the England team.

Together they will represent their country in October in the European duo event and Alison will also compete in the solo. The girls were duo winners at Taunton, where Alison also came first in the solo and basic strut events and second in the pom parade. Hayley was also second in basic strut, fifth in the solo and seventh in pom parade. Two other Torridgeside Majorettes, Lydia Bennett, 13, from Bideford and Polly Sanders, nine, from Torrington, also reached their first final as a duo in Taunton and came eighth.
