BIDEFORD Bay Children's Centre will be launching its new Play Library on September 14 to mark Sure Start Children's Centre Week.

The library will be providing resource packs containing an assortment of toys and activity sheets to provide play and enhance children's learning.

The packs will have themes such as construction, transport, hospital, weather and fairy tales and will be available to families as well as nurseries, playgroups, pre-schools and childminders in the Bideford Bay Children's Centre catchment area, which stretches from Instow to Hartland and Welcombe.

It will also offer baby toys and some construction sets individually.

"We have chosen our toys carefully to be challenging and fun and help parents and carers to understand the role of play in child development," said Clare Stacey, library co-ordinator. "Play is vital for babies and children. Through play, they learn how to plan, solve problems and to use their creativity and imagination."

To celebrate National Sure Start Children's Centre week, the staff at Bideford Bay Children's Centre will also be hosting two afternoons of information and displays aimed at early years providers and professionals in the area.
