Bideford gets ready for a week of free family fun leading up to its annual Heritage Day on July 4.

Jousting, medieval battles, historical walks and falconry will all form part of Bideford’s annual heritage week.

The week will open on Saturday with the mayor’s parade leaving the town hall and walking along Bideford Quay at 10.15am, arriving at Victoria Park to officially open the week with cannon firing.

There will be historial-themed decorations and events around the town through the week, with the big Heritage Day finale on Saturday, July 4.

The day will kick off at 10.15am with a procession to Victoria Park, and free family entertainment all day.
