Bideford drugs arrest

A 36-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply after police executed a search warrant at a Bideford property under the misuse of drugs act.

Officers led by the Barnstaple Neighbourhood Beat Team went to a house in the East-the-Water area of the town on Friday evening.

A drugs search dog was also called to the property and a significant quantity of what is believed to be herbal cannabis was seized, along with a number of other items.

PC James Rees, of Barnstaple Police station said: “We are committed to taking action against anyone who seeks to harm our communities with their involvement in the use of drugs. We are part of a large policing team within the area and were very happy to assist our neighbouring officers in Bideford with this operation. I would encourage anyone with information regarding any form of drug use within their area to contact the police and this will ensure that officers take the appropriate action to target those involved.”

The unnamed suspect was released on police bail to attend Barnstaple Police Station on June 3.
