POLICE have executed four simultaneous drugs warrants in the Bideford area under the Misuse of Drugs Act. They are hailing the operation a success following the recovery of crack cocaine from one of the properties with an estimated street value in excess of 2,700. Detective Sergeant Paul McWhinnie, from North Devon's Targeted Policing Team said: "This was a very targeted and impactive operation aimed at an organised crime group from London who have recently moved to the area with the intention of trying to take over the local drugs markets." The addresses, two of which were in Bideford town and two in the Northam area were all believed to be linked with the group. Two arrests were made on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply. DS McWhinnie said: "These arrests and the recovery of drugs follows other successful action against this group. They are firmly locked on our radar and police action against them will not cease until they realise that their activities will not be tolerated and they end their activities in North Devon."Anyone with any information concerning drug supply in North Devon may contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.* A 20 year old man, Joel Sawyerr, from London, has been charged with possession of over 27 grammes of crack cocaine and remanded in custody.
