A Bideford company has won an award for its project to insulate the village of Clovelly.
Mitchell and Dickinson won the prize for large project of the year at the South West Energy Efficiency Awards.
Co-founder, Mukti Mitchell said: ‘This is a testament to all the team and in particular to our craftsmen and project managers who have worked in Clovelly over the last year.
“It is a very prestigious award where we were compared with very large construction projects across the entire South West – and we came out as the winner.
‘This ground-breaking project was commissioned by the honorable John Rous, owner of the Clovelly Estate, who commissioned a number of test properties before proceeding with the insulation of the entire village of 114 homes.
“His objectives were to improve warmth and comfort for tenants, to reduce heating bills and raise the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings to E or above.
“The project is still underway and we are up against challenges every working day with the complexity of the work that we do – not least the weather and the fact that every single property and window is completely different.”
The company has created 20 jobs and hopes its work will help to reduce the nation’s carbon footprint.
