A swarm of Santas will flood the streets of Bideford on Sunday, December 4, to kick off the towns Christmas light switch on. Entertainment on the day kicks off at midday, with Hopps and Chapple amusing the crowds on the Quay from the stage, Phil Vanstones fairground rides and fantastic street entertainers, including magician Dave Hendy and Abi Falkners stilt walkers. The third ever Santa Run in aid of Childrens Hospice South West starts at 3pm, with a comical warm up leading to hundreds of festive runners taking on the 2km fun run. The race is open to children, adults, and even pets, and entry costs £15 per adult, to include a costume, at chsw.org.uk During the afternoon there will be a chance to meet your favourite characters, including Pokemon, Paw Patrol, minions, two super heroes, Peppa Pig and more. Crowds can also sing along to festive tunes with performances from St Marys School Choir, Bideford Town Band and Bideford Youth Pipe Band. At 5pm the switch will be thrown from the main stage, with thousands of people gathering to watch the town glitter. This will be followed by the popular reindeer parade through the town - with a special appearance from Father Christmas himself - at 5.30pm, followed by fireworks at 6.45pm. The event is kindly sponsored by D S Electrical.
