Bideford Carnival takes place this Saturday, followed by the massed pipes and drums on Bideford Quay.

Bideford Carnival is taking place this weekend, followed by the Massed Pipes and Drums event.

On Saturday, the carnival parade will be led from The Pill car park at 6pm.

It will travel via the Quay, Bridgeland Street, North Road to Lime Grove and Belvoir Road, before heading along Abbotsham Road, down the High Street and back along the Quay.

This year’s theme is countries, so expect lots of colourful floats and walkers.

The carnival queen will be Kirra Rowcliffe, aged 11, from St Margaret’s School.

She will be attended to by Savannah Hawkins, 15; Denni-Leigh Bull, 15; fairy queen Lola Barnes, nine; and flower girl Morgan Olivia Woods, seven.

After the carnival the Massed Pipes and Drums will take place with more than 140 pipers on the quay, joined by singer Tamsin Ball.

Entry forms for the carnival are available from Morrison’s customer service desk and Radford’s on the Quay.
