Two Bideford businesswomen are going head-to-head in the battle for the best business at the Devon Venus Awards 2016.
Kathy Murdoch of Ocean Kave and Westward Living and Jane Maynard of Maynard Johns Chartered Accountants are both up for the title of Best Business of the Year.
The awards are dubbed the ‘Working Women’s Oscars’ by Channel 4 and are now in their third year in Devon.
Competition has been fierce in Devon this year with more than 500 nominations and 230 applications across the 12 award categories.
Jane said: “By shaking off the stuffy suit image of accountants and putting customer service at the centre of our business, we have grown rapidly and now work with over 800 businesses across the South West and further afield.
“To be in the final with Kathy, who I have advised since she started her own business, is fantastic and I wish her the best of luck.”
Kathy added: “It’s an honour to be recognised as a finalist in such a prestigious event.
“Bideford was well represented last year and I am delighted to be in the final with Jane Maynard.”
Libbie Davis, of Maynard Johns, has also reached the final in public vote category Employee of the Year award.
The final will be held on Friday, November 27, at The Great Hall at Exeter University.
