Festive display pulls in the crowds – and donations for air ambulance.

A Christmas lights display in Bickington has been pulling in the crowds – and donations for Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

The house in Springfield Road is looking its brilliant festive best thanks to dad-of-three Kevin Carlyle and partner Laena Kidd.

“We’ve got three boys so we always put some lights up but this is the first year we’ve done it for charity,” said Kevin, 41.

“It’s a bit of fun for the kids really. They think I’m mad but they love it – I think our display is the talk of their school.”

Site manager Kevin said he bought many of his festive lights on the internet, as well as second hand from people in the area.

“There are quite a few houses on our street with Christmas lights but I think I can safely say that our house is the only one that glows,” he joked.

“The lights have been lit since November 29 and every night cars have been pulling up and people have been putting money in the collection buckets.

“We’ve no idea how much we’ve raised yet but we’ll ask the charity to do a count-up for us after we take the display down on January 1.”
