Children can let imaginations soar with the unveiling of new play equipment at Ilfracombes award-winning Bicclescombe Park. Councillors and park users gathered on Thursday to celebrate completion of the project to install a new roundabout and multi-play climbing frame. Funding came from North Devon Council, Bicclescombe Park Improvement Group (BPIG) and Ilfracombe district ward members. Councillor Mike Edmunds also contributed £2,000 from his County Councillor grant funding towards the roundabout and the Lions Club pledged £1,000. Last summer the play area also benefited from new swings and a climbing frame to upgrade old equipment. Executive member for parks, leisure and culture Councillor Dick Jones, said: I love coming to Bicclescombe Park and its always a pleasure to see the results of all the hard work the community puts in to help the council improve and maintain their park. Local ward member, Councillor Geoff Fowler, added: Once again, Im really pleased to have been able to use my councillor funds to support this exciting new equipment for the play area. Im sure it will be well used as the season progresses. Yet again, its another step forward in improving the facilities of Bicclescombe for everyone. Vanessa Archer of Bicclescombe Park Improvement Group, said: A big well done to all involved making this possible, also to all the hard working volunteers and community support at the Mill. Fantastic job everyone.
