Staff at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe were left star struck last week when they took in a stray dog and scanned her for a microchip, only to discover that her name is Beyonce.

The four year old Akita was discovered wandering the streets on her own and is currently unclaimed by her owners.

Elise Watson, manager of the Rehoming Centre near West Down, said: “When Beyonce arrived, we could tell she was going to be a little celebrity. But when we learnt that she shared her name with an international superstar, we couldn’t believe it!

“So far the ‘diva demands’ have included lots of fuss and playtime which we are always happy to help with. She does enjoy posing for a photo or two and everyone is crazy in love with her fun-loving nature.

“Despite her personality, she is a strong girl who will need owners that can take her for long walks and keep her intelligent mind occupied.

“We all have our fingers and paws crossed that our stunning Beyonce will soon be sharing the limelight with a loving new family and taking centre stage in a home of her very own.”

Beyonce is looking to be homed in an active household and is perfectly compatible with other dogs and children over 11 years of age.
