EMPLOYEES at a Barnstaple factory with particularly close ties to soldiers fighting in Afghanistan have been doing their bit to support the troops. CQC Limited at Pottington manufactures the Osprey body armour currently worn by the soldiers on the frontline, but not content with helping to make the life-saving kit, staff decided they wanted to do more. A sponsored walk was organised to raise money for The Rifles Regiment Care for Casualties charity and on a rare sunny summer day, employees and their families completed the journey from Fremington along the coastal path to Chivenor. It raised £1,300 for the charity, which offers support to wounded service personnel and their families, as well as families of the fallen. The money was presented to Major Don Jellard MBE, The Rifles county secretary, by walk organiser Lorraine Lee and her colleagues.
