The event, held on what would have been Ben’s 21st birthday, raised £1,200 for Spinal Research.

A TRIBUTE concert held in memory of a young man from North Devon has been hailed as a success.

More than 100 people travelled from as far as Yorkshire and Northamptonshire to attend the concert at The Factory in honour of Ben Foulds on Saturday.

Ben, who became wheelchair-bound after a cycling accident in November 2010, died in his sleep from an undiagnosed heart condition last November.

In total, the tribute concert raised £1,200 for Spinal Research through ticket sales and a raffle on the night.

Louise Foulds, Ben's step mum, said: "It was an excellent night; superb performances were given by Two Tone, The Confused, Sam Dowden and Sam Mayo & The Tuesday Syndicate.

"Luke Honnoraty did a fantastic job of keeping everyone entertained with his lively banter and humour.

"A short video of photos from Ben's life was shown which received a lot of compliments."

The event was held on what would have been Ben's 21st birthday.
