A new course in Braunton designed to help patients with long term illnesses will launch next week.

People living with long-term conditions, such as diabetes and asthma, are to be offered free support from trained tutors at Braunton Parish Hall every Wednesday for six weeks from March 17 between 2pm-4.30pm.

The course, the Expert Patient Programme, run by NHS Devon, will help people develop skills, confidence and knowledge. Research shows the benefits of attendance can lead to better symptom control, fewer visits to hospital and an increase in quality of life.

A patient who attended an EPP course said: "It is motivating and inspirational to meet other patients in a social context."
