The squad will be undertake an adventurous walk next month for charity.

Barnstaple Town footballers will be putting their feet to good use off the pitch next month – at a charity firewalk taking place at the club.

Manager Barry Yeo and his team have pledged their support for the daring fundraiser at Mill Road on Saturday, April 23 – after the team’s last home game of the season against Welton Rovers.

The challenge, dubbed ‘the shortest sponsored walk in the world’, is being held in aid of North Devon Against Domestic Abuse and the Secret World Wildlife Rescue charities.

“I’m hoping to get all my players involved; there will be fines for those who don’t take part,” joked manager Barry.

“We are hoping to raise some awareness for a good cause,” he added.

The players and the rest of the participants will have some pre-walk training in the Barnstaple Town clubhouse before undertaking the challenge.

Organisers are also planning to have post-event entertainment at the clubhouse.

The event is being organised by Jaden Cornelious Fundraising and anyone who would like to take part can contact Cathy Edwards on 01271 371343 or email
