Staff from Barnstaple’s stores teamed up with Encompass Southwest to put on a Christmas lunch at St Anne’s Arts and Community Centre on Tuesday
Tesco’s Barnstaple stores have teamed up with a homeless support charity to bring Christmas to those in need.
The stores in Rose Lane and Taw View donated £500 to Encompass Southwest to put on a Christmas lunch at St Anne’s Arts and Community Centre in Paternoster Row on Tuesday.
The team put up decorations and a Christmas tree before serving food.
Encompass Southwest is an independent charity that provides advice, information and support services in communities.
The Tesco store on Rose Lane and the Tesco Extra store on Barnstaple Retail Park supported the lunch at Church Rooms, Paternoster Row, by providing a £500 donation, a Christmas tree and decorations.
Claire Fisher, operations manager at Encompass, said: “As a charity we rely on the support of the local community and we are extremely grateful to Tesco for helping us in this way.
“The store’s generous donation ensured that those most in need have the opportunity to enjoy Christmas that little bit more. The store team that were able to add volunteer support to the day also made a huge difference.”
Simon Casinelli, customer experiences manager of the Tesco Extra store, said: “The Christmas lunch is a great way to support the homeless people in this area and give them a festive event to enjoy as well as a hot meal.”
