A criminology student from Barnstaple has been recognised for her academic excellence with a scholarship.

Victoria Rushton has completed her first year of study at the University of Gloucestershire as the highest performing student across the university’s school natural and social sciences.

The 19-year-old was presented with a certificate by the university and will receive a scholarship worth £400, which has been provided by Ede and Ravenscroft, who supply ceremonial robes for occasions such as graduation ceremonies.

Victoria, who studied at Petroc before achieving a place at the university in 2017, was one of only 26 students recognised by the university, with the highest performing students in each school receiving an award.

Victoria said: “I’m honoured to have received this scholarship and I am proud that my dedication and consistency throughout the year paid off.

“This generous scholarship makes all the work and late night studying worth it.”
