New brand for town designed to entice shoppers far and wide.
BUSINESS leaders hope to entice more shoppers to Barnstaple with the help of a brand new marketing campaign.
The town is to benefit from a vibrant new brand image being launched this month to promote Barnstaple as “a must” for shopping, eating out, fresh produce and other friendly local services.
The new branding will be displayed on street signage, lamp post banners and other promotional materials and has been designed to help increase the footfall in the town by five per cent within five years.
The contemporary look has been commissioned by town centre traders’ group BID Barnstaple and developed by Barnstaple agency Artavia Advertising.
BIDBarnstaple chairman Dane Stanley, said: “Artavia has done a brilliant job developing the brief we gave them and I am confident that the plans they have will result in giving Barnstaple a higher profile and so bring more visitors to the town.
“We need local businesses to engage and support the new branding and the ideas we have for promotional activities, leading to more customers for all.
“This is a prime example of where the combined value of the levy funding can be effectively utilised,” he added.
Mr Stanley said the branding would define Barnstaple as a town of significant importance in the region and a destination of choice for both visitors and businesses. The brand would also create a feeling of civic pride and build upon Barnstaple’s historical importance within the UK.

“The opportunity to unite all the businesses in the town centre with a one mind, one brand culture, has captured everyone’s imagination.
“We hope that everyone will join in and embrace the new brand and all it has to offer and look to exciting times ahead.”
The new branding will be unveiled in time for the Christmas lights switch-on on Sunday, November 20.
