THE Rotary Club of Barnstaple hosted a dinner at the Barnstaple Hotel to welcome the Group Study Exchange team from Tasmania to the area. The Rotary International Group Study Exchange ( GSE) programme is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women in the early stages of their careers. The GSE team from Tasmania are nearing the end of their month long visit to Devon District 1170. During their stay they have been living with Rotarian host families around the county. There are four team members with a team leader.The dinner was also attended by the representatives of the Rotary Clubs of Braunton, Ilfracombe and their hosts at the time, Torrington. Also present were District Governor George Kempton from the Barnstaple Club together with his guests Past District Governor Kevin Shadbolt and his wife Anne from Tasmania. Roger Ireland, chairman of the International committee of the Rotary Club of Barnstaple who organised the GSE visit to District 1170 said: "The GSE team were marvellous ambassadors for both Tasmania and Australia. Their presentations around the district have been very well received by well attended meetings.
