The money is still coming in, but on Wednesday cheques for £1,000 and £200 were presented to RMB Chivenor and the North Devon branch of the Royal Marines Association. The marathon has a long running association with Chivenor and part of its route goes around the camp itself. This year commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Aldeiy Alderson took part and completed the event in three hours, seven minutes and one second, wearing military dress. Race director Zoe Smith said the event had proved to be the biggest and best so far, but they still hoped to grow it further for next year. She said: A big thank you to everyone our sponsors and all those that helped make the race possible. Its a massive operation, with all the road closures and Chivenor being a military base. We are all really pleased with it. The next marathon is on September 29, 2019.
