A Barnstaple man has been remanded in custody by North Devon Magistrates after being charged with assaulting two police officers and a member of the public.

Karl Damsell, aged 37, appeared in court yesterday (Wednesday,) when the hearing was adjourned until Thursday, September 10 at 2.30pm.

The charges relate to an alleged incident at Sherrats Oak on Bank Holiday Monday. A 42-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted.

A male police officer sustained cuts and bruising and a female officer sustained bruising to her face.
