Man knifed in face after altercation in Barnstaple

A man has been left with a serious knife wound to his face after an altercation in Barnstaple.

Police said the man in his 30s was injured during an altercation with another man in Summerland Street some time between 8pm and 10pm last night (Wednesday, June 9).

A 26-year-old man from Barnstaple has been arrested on suspicion of assault GBH with intent. He remains in police custody.

Police said there was someone guarding the scene at Summerland Street while enquiries continue.
