A HOUSE in Barnstaple has been shut down by police and its occupants forbidden to return.Barnstaple Magistrates granted police the power to seal the premises in Pulchrass Street under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act.The house has now been boarded up and will remain sealed for three months apart from access for the owner for repairs and maintenance.WPC Lucy Robinson, of the Barnstaple Town Centre policing team, said the action was in response to complaints and concerns of the public.There had been longstanding problems of nuisance from people gathering at and near the property, which had been the subject of several warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act, including two this year, she said. Class A drugs had been seized on the last occasion earlier this month.Residents had put up with a lot of anti-social behaviour.
