The annual fireworks display at Barnstaple Rugby Club on Sunday night has been hailed a huge success by organisers. Barnstaple Round Table had urged people not to watch the show from the Taw Bridge due to safety concerns; and while some still did, many thousands of people packed the Pottington Road ground to soak up the atmosphere of the family-friendly event. An estimated 1,900 people were treated to a spectacular display, choreographed by Okehampton-based Two Tigers Fireworks. Round Table chairman Nick Tamlin said the event cleared its costs, and with ticket sales and bucket donations, raised upwards of £5,000 for local good causes. He said: It was a brilliant event and we had a really good turn-out. The display by Two Tigers was phenomenal. Thanks also to Barnstaple Rugby Club for use of the venue.
