NORTH Devon Councillors have stepped up to the mark to help out a Barnstaple community group.
Councillors Mike Harrison and John Mathews have together given �400 from their Community Councillor Grants to the Step by Step group, based at Newport Community School.
The money will be used to buy more resources such as paper, paints and glue, and help cover general running costs.
Step by Step Community Group Co-ordinator Caroline Williams, said: "We are very grateful to Cllrs Mathews and Harrison for their continued support of the group.

"The money will ensure that we can continue to provide quality sessions for children under five, their parents and carers."
This year the council has provided �65,000 of funding to community and voluntary groups or organisations through Community Councillor Grant scheme. Each councillor has �1,500 to spend on projects within their electoral ward each year.
