The 72nd Barnstaple Carnival takes place on Saturday, September 22, with a packed afternoon and evening of entertainment planned.

The main procession gets underway at 6pm after the crowning of carnival queen Sophie Foster, following the traditional route from the civic centre, along the Strand, Queen Street, Boutport Street and North Walk.

The main procession is preceded by the children’s carnival, with the procession along the Stand and the High Street kicking off at 3.30pm.

Stalls will line the Strand from midday, with an array of food and drink, retail and fun exhibits.

A new addition to 2018 will see live music take place in the Square, and the proceedings will draw to a close with a firework display at 8pm.
