Nearly 1,000 women took part in Barnstaples Race for Life this morning (Sunday). The sun shone for the annual Cancer Research UK fundraiser, with women of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities joining forces to make a stand in the fight against cancer. Many chose to run in memory of loved ones or those fighting the disease; some who took part were undergoing treatment for cancer themselves, while others had inspirational tales of survival to tell. They ran, jogged or walked either a 5km or 10km course around Rock Park, starting and finishing at the Tarka Tennis Centre at Seven Brethren. Marie Luxton, from Barnstaple, was the first female 5km runner across the finish line. Scroll down to view just some of the pictures taken at todays event.
