A NORTH Devon show band is on the look-out for a couple of musicians to give their summer German concerts some real "oom pah".The Albert Hall Show Band wants to hear from anyone interested in filling one of four spaces on a coach destined for Barnstaple's twin town of Uelzen, this July. The band is looking for a bassist and trombone players and as two of the members are no longer able to travel due to ill-health.But even if you don't know your tubing from your tuning, the band would still like to hear from anyone wanting to come along."Although it'd be great to hear from musicians, we'd welcome anyone who'd like to take up the spare seats," said band secretary Pauline Hall, who although a trombonist herself, has also been ruled out of playing due to a broken arm."The deposit is all paid; the total cost of the trip is 180 and that includes everything, from travel and accommodation, to trips and excursions while in Germany."We'll be staying with host families and will be performing a number of concerts with our friends from the Posauenchor Band," added Mrs Hall. The Albert Hall Show Band formed around five years ago and features musicians aged from 10 to 80. The band is a member of the Barnstaple Twinning Association and has made a number of trips to Germany in recent times, as well as Barnstaple's twin town of Barnstable in the US."In October, the German band will be visiting Barnstaple and performing at the Cedars Inn," said Mrs Hall. The coach for Uelzen leaves Barnstaple at 10pm on Thursday, July 23 and returns on July 31.Anyone interested is asked to contact Pauline Hall on (01271) 379155.
