The former Argos store in Barnstaple High Street could become a new 24-hour gym.
Proposals to convert 1-3 Northgate House have been submitted to North Devon Council by Corinium Gym Ventures 4 Ltd.
The application proposes a change of use from retail to be used as a new gymnasium.
A design and access statement submitted with the application claims the new gym will provide four-to-five full time jobs.
It will also deliver between six and 10 part time posts for class instructor, and three or four personal trainer posts.
The Barnstaple High Street Argos store closed in July 2017, with the opening of a new Argos as part of Barnstaple’s Sainsbury’s store.
It has stood vacant ever since its closure.
