The landlord of a Barnstaple pub has denied assaulting two police officers during an incident in July last year.
Peter Davies, aged 65, of the Rising Sun in Newport Road, Barnstaple, is alleged to have assaulted one of the officers by closing a door which he was trying to get in.
He is also accused of assaulting a second officer as he tried to stop the police entering the pub on July 5 last year.
Davies pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault on an emergency worker but admitted personal possession of cannabis when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.
Richard Crabb, defending, said Davies is currently the holder of a licence at a pub in Barnstaple but is planning to give up next week.
Judge David Evans adjourned the case until later in the month so the prosecution can review its position and consider whether the time and expense of a jury trial can be avoided.
