SIR - I am a very energetic 8-year-old English springer spaniel called Meg and I live in Northam. My owners take me for two daily walks along the coast path at Boat Hyde and across the fields and I can't think of anything better (other than food) than to run across the fields chasing rabbits! When I was told that I would have to go for 'walkies' at the end of a lead, it made my fur stand on end! What has happened to my freedom to roam? What about those horrible cats? Will they have to be restrained as well? This is being prejudiced against dogs and their owners! May I enquire as to where the funds are coming from to police and enforce the fixed penalties? Surely this could be spent elsewhere within the local community! My owners are very responsible. I am kept on a lead near any roads and built-up areas and they clear up any 'poos' that I do. If I don't get my proper exercise I will get fat and unhealthy, along with my owners! Please don't do this to me and all my friends!Meg, Very Irate Spaniel (Owned by Mr and Mrs D J Cloke, Northam).
