A long way from home, I thought, after hearing them play on the quay to the delight of crowds in Appledore and Instow.
I went along on the Saturday evening to find a packed theatre. The local French band, with some 40 players, played five pieces of music.

The audience was spellbound and all stood shouting and applauding. Well done, Appledore Band. It makes me proud to be Devonshire born and bred.
