Jean Sharples, centre manager at Atlantic Village in Bideford, has been nominated for a national award for manager of the year.

Atlantic Village’s centre manager has been chosen as a finalist for a national award.

Jean Sharples is one of six people up for manager of the year at the SCEPTRE Awards, in the small-sized shopping centre category.

The national awards acknowledge best practice and the best people in the shopping centre industry.

These include regular free family fun, seasonal events and support for local charities.

Jean said: “It’s an honour and privilege to have been shortlisted for this award.

“I am very grateful to our amazing retailers, front of house staff and the centre management team at Atlantic Village for working with me to make Atlantic Village the success story it has become.

“I would like to say a big thank you to our loyal customers and the local community for their continued support, without them we wouldn’t be here.”

The centre has already achieved a RoSPA gold award for health and safety, and was national green champion runner-up in the UK Green Apple Environmental Awards.

CBRE retail operations manager, Pete Barber said: “The SCEPTRE Awards are very prestigious accolades in the retail industry, acknowledging those who have worked hard to deliver excellence, and we are thrilled Jean has been shortlisted.

“It is a huge recognition of all her hard work and we wish her the best of luck.”

The winners will be announced on June 20 at a glittering ceremony at The Dorchester, London.
