POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a collision which left a man seriously injured at Instow on Friday.At around 9pm police and ambulance crews were called to an accident on a lane which leads to the beach car park at Sandhills, following reports of a collision between a VW Golf and a pedestrian.On arrival, it was found that the 17-year-old male pedestrian was suffering from serious head injuries and a broken leg and was taken to the North Devon District Hospital. His condition is described as critical, but stable.It appears that, prior to the collision, the 17-year-old casualty from Bideford had been involved in an assault and was on his way to get medical treatment.The driver of the car, an 18-year-old man from Bideford, had also been injured in an assault. He, too, was taken to hospital for treatment.It is believed that there were numerous people in the Dunes at the time of both incidents, and therefore, police are asking for any possible witnesses to contact them anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 quoting reference 1169 170409.
