TORRINGTON-based animal rescue charity SPRA has been given a tasty boost by Asda. When six cases of tinned dog food were found to be incorrectly labelled, store manager Andy Felix did not pussyfoot around, but donated them all to the charity.Local volunteer helper Barbara Garwood went along to pick up the 144 cans, which will help towards feeding dogs taken into SPRA's care.Stuart Ford of SPRA said: "In the current difficult times we have hit a second wave of people having to give up their pets because of the economic climate. Although we have been lucky enough to find some new homes, we are currently 20-30 per cent up on usual numbers. We are thankful to all those who help us, Asda, Morrisons, Whiskers pet shop in Torrington and the many generous people who donate through our charity shops.
