Fire fighters were called out to the scene of a barn fire near Chulmleigh last night (Thursday). Crews from Chulmleigh, North Tawton and Crediton, and the water carrier from Barnstaple, arrived at Chenson at 8pm. Upon arrival crews confirmed one barn of approximately 40m x 10m was on fire, and minor asbestos was involved. They used a hose reel jet, main jet and breathing apparatus to fight the fire and set up cordons around the site. By 10pm the fire was out, though the barn was severely damaged. Crews were decontaminated due to the asbestos.
