Artisan takeover at historic estate as popular craft fair returns

Arlington Court near Barnstaple will host the Devon Day Craft Fair from Friday, June 4 to Sunday, June 7
Discover local handcrafted goods, art and products as artisans take over Arlington Court this June.
The popular Devon Day Craft Fair is back from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7 in the grounds of the historic National Trust estate, in partnership with the North Devon Handmade Collective.
Visitors can expect a mix of handcrafted goods, including textiles, ceramics, jewellery, fine art and homeware all created by talented local craftspeople.

It follows on from Devon Day on Thursday, June 4 and continues the tradition of fairs held at Arlington by Rosalie Chichester, the estate’s last resident.
Miss Chichester was known for opening her home to locals and regularly hosted gatherings that celebrated local talent and craftsmanship.
Andrew Cross, director of North Devon Handmade Collective, said: “The Devon Day Craft Fair is the perfect opportunity to celebrate everything that makes this county so special - its creativity, independence, craftsmanship and community spirit.
“We’ve been absolutely delighted by the response from the local crafting community, with more than 50 artisans already signed up to take part.
“The variety and quality of talent across North Devon is incredible, from artists and basket weavers to woodworkers, jewellery makers and even local rum producers. This event is all about showcasing the very best Devon has to offer and we’re thrilled to be working alongside the professionals at the National Trust to help bring that vision to life at Arlington Court.”
The craft fair will take place during normal opening hours. Entry is free for National Trust members or £9 per adult and £4 per child. Entry includes access to the colourful formal Victorian gardens, grounds and tea-room.
