The South Devon School of Gymnastics, based in Paignton, is basking in the glory of a remarkable set of results in the 2026 English Championships at the Telford International Centre.

Olympian Abi Martin is the Senior All-Round English Champion after a superb performance on a day when she also won Gold on vault and floor, alongside Bronze medals in bars and beam.

The remarkable display from Abi came hot on the heels of Willow-Mae Calland being crowned English All-Round Champion for her age group after some supremely composed routines across all disciplines. Willow-Mae also finished first on bars.

It has been a whirlwind two years for Abigail Martin, the student at South Devon College who spends her spare time competing at the top table of global gymnastics.

After winning a place in the Team GB squad for the Paris Olympics, Abi has had to battle back from injury and spent many long hours honing her technique at the South Devon School of Gymnastics.

Abi signalled her return to fitness with gold medal on the vault in the Paris World Cup, perfect preparation for the World Artistic Gymnastics in Jakarta, where she won bronze.

For Willow-Mae, the student from Torquay Academy, the title is her next step after winning selection for the England Gymnastics squad to compete in the Caledonia Cup in November.

The Caledonia Cup is a home internationals series feature the top gymnasts from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland, and Willow-Mae was one of the youngest competitors involved.

Last year, Willow-Mae also took her place at the British Championships, showcasing superb potential with mature performances on the floor, bars, vault and beam, despite being in the company of Olympic medalists Jake Jarman, Harry Hepworth and Jessica Gadirova.
